During
the day, your entire roofing system heats up. This is known as solar heat
gain. After sunset the entire roof assembly begins to cool as the ambient
temperature decreases. The areas where moisture in the system will cool
less rapidly since moisture retains heat longer than most other materials
used in the roofing system.
J. Murray & Associates
owns an infrared imaging device that is a very useful tool for determining
the actual condition of your roof system. With this technology, we have
been able to locate problematic leaks that were otherwise non-detectable
by conventional means.
This service is especially
beneficial to facility owners that have had roofs installed within the
previous year or two. Since most roofing contractors only warrant their
work for a period of one to two years, we have been asked to perform a
scan prior to the expiration of the contractor's warranty. The roofing
contractor is notified and the leak repaired within the warranty period,
thereby avoiding a costly service call after the expiration of the initial
warranty.
